Families, friends, longtime cyclists, and first-time riders all sharing the same streets. This isn't your average bike group,it's a community. Ahoy, mateys! On Friday, July 31st, Critical Mass Bakersfield is going full pirate. Break out your pirate hats, bandanas, eye patches, boots, tricorns, hooks, swords (props only), or anything else that fits the theme. Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Bike Jam will be leading the fleet with a heavier soundtrack than usual—expect hard rock, heavy metal, and pirate-inspired music to set the tone for the ride.

It's always great seeing families and friends come together, get creative, and make each month's ride their own. From the bright orange bike to the island-style lei, it's all about having fun, meeting new people, and enjoying the ride together. This map shows every Critical Mass Bakersfield route from our very first ride in June 2024 through May 2026. Over the last two years, we've rolled 24 monthly rides, covering 317.7 miles and climbing 3,556 feet while exploring Bakersfield one ride at a time. Looking at the map, you'll notice one area we've barely touched: the far west side. That big blank spot has been staring at us for a while.

A cooler full of refreshments, flower leis around their necks, and not a care in the world. Some riders show up ready for the miles. Others show up ready to enjoy the ride. These two somehow managed to do both.
